Who we are
Courtelier is published by London Press House. We are the data controller for any personal information collected through this website.
To contact us about your data, email hello@courtelier.com.
What we collect
We collect a small amount of personal data, only when you choose to give it to us:
- Newsletter subscriptions: your email address, your IP address (used to rate-limit submissions) and timestamps for when you subscribed and confirmed.
- Contact form submissions: your name, email address, message contents and your IP address.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs (IP address, request URL, user agent, timestamp) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These are typically retained for 30 days.
If you accept analytics cookies on the cookie banner, we use two analytics tools to understand how the site is performing:
- Microsoft Clarity records aggregate interaction data (pages viewed, scroll depth, click locations and anonymised session replays). Processed by Microsoft Corporation under their privacy statement.
- Google Analytics 4 records aggregate audience and acquisition data (which articles get read, where readers come from). Processed by Google LLC under their privacy policy. We have IP anonymisation enabled.
We do not use any other third-party analytics, retargeting pixels or behavioural advertising trackers. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
You can decline analytics at any time using the cookie banner, or reset your choice on the cookies page.
Why we collect it
- Newsletter data is processed on the basis of your consent, which you provide by submitting the form and confirming the email link. We use it to send you the newsletter you subscribed to.
- Contact form data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and to perform a contract if your enquiry leads to one (e.g. an advertising booking).
- Server logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and abuse-free.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form submissions: kept in our email system until no longer relevant, typically up to 24 months.
- Server logs: typically 30 days, set by our hosting provider.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you (right of access)
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data (right to rectification)
- Ask us to delete your data (right to erasure)
- Withdraw consent for newsletter mailing at any time
- Object to processing or ask us to restrict it
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we've handled your data improperly
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@courtelier.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use one essential session cookie and one item of browser-stored data (for the cookie consent dismissal). See our separate cookies page for details.

This website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please email us and we will delete it.
